The Philosophy Society is a group of students who like to get together and chat about life’s big questions. We’re open to anyone who wants to come along and we organise a range of different events that will appeal to everyone, whether you’re a philosophical newbie or a full-time Plato. No matter what you study, a bit of philosophical thinking is always good to have on hand and we’re here to help.
Our academic events this year will include everything from philosophy of science to the ethics of abortion and, in collaboration with the Literific, we’re also excited to bring you a debate about the existence of free will. We’ll be hosting regular film nights featuring thought-provoking films which you can come along to for some philosophical chat or just for the craic. We also offer academic support in the form of First Year Logic workshops and essay assistance.
Our famous Philosophy Reading Weekend to the Mourne Mountains will also be going ahead this year. This is a unique opportunity to get out of the city, have fun, and talk about some of your ideas in a relaxed environment.
Our social events will include a repeat of last year’s wonderfully successful formal (in collaboration with QUB Politics and PPE), Christmas socials, and regular catch-ups for philosophy and pints.
So, if you’re interested in coming along- get in touch! Keep an eye on our Facebook page for up to date information on all events, or if you want to be included on our mailing list then just drop us an email. Contact us with queries any time!
