Underwater Hockey

Underwater Hockey

Underwater hockey, or octopush, is a fun, fast paced and exhilarating team sport played with short sticks and a puck at the bottom of the pool. Players wear fins, a mask, a snorkel, a protective glove and headgear. The stick is short, approximately a foot long, the puck is heavy, around 1.2 kg, and the goal is 3 meters long. It is a very unique game in that it is 3-dimensional and requires you to play while holding your breath.
We play on Mondays and Tuesday nights at the PEC from 8-9.30 pm, everyone is welcome! We have all the kit you need, just bring a swimsuit, towel and a pair of old socks!
Underwater hockey is played across the world at elite and club levels. We represent Queen’s in tournaments throughout the year in the UK, Ireland and across Europe. This year we came 6th out of 18 clubs at the UK Student Nationals in just our third year competing! Underwater hockey offers opportunities both for students that look for a challenge as well as for students that just want to have fun trying a new sport.
Join us today to try out this unique sport, if you’d like to get in touch with any questions about what we do get in touch with us at underwaterhockey@qub.ac.uk or check out our facebook group QUB Underwater Hockey Club.
