QUB RAG International Partner TEN Foundations is based in Belfast and support vulnerable children, families and communities in the Philippines.

TEN Foundations are hosting global volunteering opportunities in the Philippines for groups of Queen's students in May and September 2019.

At the info session you will meet Ian Campbell, the founder of TEN Foundations, who will tell you about the amazing work they do and what's involved in the global volunteering opportunity.

Inspiring Leaders Women in Leadership Masterclass

Inspiring Leaders: Women in Leadership Masterclass Sponsored by Allen & Overy LLP

Open to all female volunteers, whether you're an Inspiring Leaders alumni or just want a taster of the programme – we have the perfect opportunity for you!

Despite the significant progress that has already been made to close the gender divide and enable progress towards parity, further action still needs to be taken.

This programme is purposefully designed to explore the skills and behaviours necessary to enable female student volunteers to confidently and successfully transition into the workplace.
As a result of your full participation in this interactive workshop, you will gain an insight into
• Your own personal values and strengths
• The strengths and characteristics of effective female leaders
• How to lead with presence and impact
• How to further develop your own leadership strengths

Global Volunteering Workshop

Have you ever wanted to experience a different culture and meet new inspirational people whilst doing something to significantly improve the lives of others? If the answer is yes, then we have a good news for you!

Volunteer SU are bringing you a Global Volunteering Workshop.

If you are thinking about global volunteering for summer 2019, come along and explore a range of opportunities for a summer full of fun and adventures.

The workshop will give you the opportunity to learn about the global volunteering opportunities hosted by Ten Foundations, Habitat for Humanity Northern Ireland, Think Pacific and Hostelling International NI.  Representatives from each organisation will tell you how you can apply, how much it will cost you, how you can fundraise for your trip etc.  Volunteer Now will be giving out their free Steps Around the World handbook to support you in preparing for a  global volunteering experience.  You will also hear first-hand stories of European Voluntary Service Volunteers. Finally, you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have!

Lunch will be provided.

Inspiring Leaders Conflict Resolution Masterclass

Whether you're an Inspiring Leaders alumni or a student volunteer who wants a taster of the programme – we have the perfect opportunity for you!

This free Inspiring Leaders Conflict Resolution Masterclass delivered by Enda Young from the William J Clinton Leadership Institute, will use a blend of theory, case studies and practical experiential learning activities to explore the latest thinking in conflict resolution.

Through this high energy & interactive training session, you will gain:

  • An introduction to key theories and concepts of conflict resolution
  • An insight into the neuroscience of conflict resolution
  • An understanding of the causes of conflict and alternative dispute resolution techniques
  • An advanced awareness of your own personal conflict style
  • Practical and useful conflict resolution skills and strategies

Action Changes Things (Activism Conference)

A conference bringing together expert organisations to share their successes and learnings in activism via plenary sessions, interactive workshops, seminars and information stalls.

We want you to:

  • interact with a range of campaigning and activist groups
  • identify and respond to the social injustices you feel passionately about
  • develop real and tangible activism skills
  • try something new, have fun, build your confidence and network to create positive change in the community

Action Changes Things will cover the role of activism in important topics such as Global Poverty, Co-Creation, Animal Welfare, Welfare Reform, Climate Change, Women Empowerment, Housing, LGBT+ Equality, Refugee/Asylum Seekers and more.
