What we want to change and why we want to change it

We know how hard it must be for International Students to leave their family, friends and home country to come to a completely new place – one where they mightn’t have even visited before or know anyone.

We want to make these students feel welcomed, as at home and as settled as possible in their new community at Queen’s - so we’ve set up the International Buddy Scheme!

How we are going to change it

The scheme matches up the new intake of international students with returning Queen’s students.

It’s a great way for students (from near and far) to meet each other, have a chat, make friends and to learn more about the local area.

Become a Buddy

We’d really encourage returning international students, as well as local students, to sign up to become a Buddy.

Sign up by completing the below form by 5pm, Monday 11 September.

It’s a great way to meet new people, make friends and you even get rewarded through Degree Plus and Millennium Volunteers!

Plus, it’s what you make it – you can be a point of contact in case an international student needs some help or advice or you can meet lifelong friends.

International Buddy Scheme Meet-Up

We’re holding our Meet-Up at 5pm, Wednesday 13 September in The Snack Bar, on the second floor of the Students' Union.

Come along, whether you’re an international or a local student we’d love to see you!

International students, you will have already been sent an email by International Student Support filling you in on all the details of this event!

Hope you see you there!
