International Buddy Scheme

What we want to change and why we want to change it

We know how hard it must be for International Students to leave their family, friends and home country to come to a completely new place – one where they mightn’t have even visited before or know anyone.

We want to make these students feel welcomed, as at home and as settled as possible in their new community at Queen’s - so we’ve set up the International Buddy Scheme!

How we are going to change it

The scheme matches up the new intake of international students with returning Queen’s students. We’d really encourage returning international students, as well as local students, to sign up. It’s a great way for students (from near and far) to meet each other, have a chat, make friends, and to learn more about the local area.

International Buddy Scheme Meet Up

We’re holding our International Buddy Scheme Meet Up on Thursday 26 January in The Snack Bar, on the second floor of the Students' Union.

Come along, whether you’re an international or a local student we’d love to see you! Those who attend will also be in with a chance to win a QUB HOODY* courtesy of the SU Shop!

So you want to Sign Up?

Sign up is now closed for this year's Buddy Scheme - watch out next year for further opportunities to get involved.

I'm a new international Student coming to Queen's

If you are coming to Queen’s for the first time in January, you will have already been sent an email by International Student Support filling you in on all the details of this event. Please follow the sign-up instructions listed in this email.
