Clubs & Societies
Queen’s boasts over 170 clubs and societies offering all of the Union’s 22,500 members a wealth of experiences – some of which cannot be found anywhere else! A great sporting tradition exists at Queen’s with currently 52 clubs offering students competitive and recreational opportunities. If sport isn’t your thing – don’t worry! There are nearly twice as many non-sporting societies, covering a wide range of hobbies and interests.
Whether it is something you are familiar with or something completely unknown, the Students’ Union encourages and supports you with all of the extracurricular activities. It is worth noting that not only do these activities enrich your social life, they will also make your CV more attractive in the eyes of prospective employers.
Queen’s now offers all students to use their experience as credit towards the ‘Degree Plus’ initiative. This scheme offers recognition for all the work you put into organising and running your club or society, enabling you to provide a record of achievement and gaining extra certification at graduation for your efforts.
Start a new club or society of your own
If none of the clubs or societies appeal to you then why not set up a club or society of your own? All you need to do is draw up a constitution and development plan (sample found under administration in this section), collect 15 student member names and their student numbers and send both documents to the VP Clubs and Societies. The VP will then inform you of the next stage in the process and keep you updated.
