FAQs

Have a read of some of the questions that we're frequently asked!

If you have any further queries, please don't hesitate to email us at su.enterprise@qub.ac.uk

  • What is SU Enterprise?

SU Enterprise is a staff led department within Queen’s Students’ Union.

We help students to gain entrepreneurial skills so that they are equipped for their future career – whether that be to enhance their CV or to help them start a business.

  • Is SU Enterprise just for students?

No, we will support all students (undergraduate and postgraduate) throughout their time at university, but also 2 years post-graduation.

  • How do I make an appointment?

Email our team on su.enterprise@qub.ac.uk and we will drop you a line to let you know when we have availability.

  • How long does an initial appointment last?

We usually meet you for around 1 hour, sometimes this is slightly less or more depending on how we get on.

  • What should I bring to an appointment?

This is up to you. Some people find it useful to bring along notes or drawings to help explain their idea better, other people might bring a notebook to take notes, and some people just bring themselves – all of these are ok!

  • What are your opening hours?

We are generally open for appointments between 9am-5pm.

  • Where are you based?

We are based on the 1st floor of the Students' Union at One Elmwood.

  • Do you have to have a business idea to get involved?

We help people at all stages of their journey – so whether you just want to develop entrepreneurial skills or maybe want to sound out a business idea, or perhaps you are running a business and need some direction, we can hopefully help you move forward!

  • Is SU Enterprise just for business students?

No way! We find that some of the best student businesses are run by students from a whole variety of academic pathways – from geography to engineering to English to law students – we don’t discriminate. (Did you know that the founder of Youtube studied Fine Arts?)

  • Does it cost money?

All of the help and support that we offer is free of charge.

  • How much time commitment is involved?

This differs depending on what initiate you choose to get involved in.

If you find that you don’t have that much time, then we have workshops that might be more suited to your needs, whereas if you find that you have more time you might want to get involved in one of our longer programmes.

  • What do you offer?

We have a range of programmes, competitions and initiatives on offer, and we are consistently adding more to this list depending on what our students’ needs are.
