VP Equality & Diversity
Hello all!
I'm Sam, and I'm here to represent minority student groups. Believe it or not, every student belongs to some form of minority student group, whether you may be an international/ postgrad/ LGBT/ mature/ part time or even belong to a religious group!
When you look around Queen's, you see a diverse range of students that come from all walks of life, and one of the biggest goals I want to work to this year is to celebrate this amazing diversity we have at out doorstep! I will be planning a series of World Days this year, where we will celebrate various major religious/cultural festivals (think Thanksgiving/ Chinese New Year/ Diwali etc!).
Also, I am hoping to make the transition into university life a bit easier for international students and mature students, who due to obvious reasons may find the first few months of university a bit harder than the rest of the student population. To combat this, I will be working closely with the International Support Office and the Widening Participation Unit to ensure that adequate support is freely available.
Of course, a lot of what I do is supporting students on a day-to-day basis, so honestly- if you have any problems at all during your time at Queen's please talk to me! I am here to listen and an more than happy to help you out however I can, and even if I can't- I will make sure you get to speak to someone who knows what to do!
There are a load of ways you can contact me-
Email me at su.vpequality@qub.ac.uk

or even better, come up to the Sabbatical office on the 2nd floor of the Union!
Hopefully see you soon! :)
