VP Equality & Diversity

Hi all
-
I'm Treasa Harkin, VP for Equality and Diversity and my job is to represent students in groups which lack representation. Such students include International, mature, postgraduate, part-time, LGBT, disabled students - although the remit is much broader.
I feel that students in Queen’s often stick to their comfort zones - one of the things I hope to achieve this year is promoting integration, through implementing a 'buddy' or mentoring scheme and pushing that clubs and societies appoint an international officer.
I also want to review the way in which we find out about student issues - by altering the way in which we engage and communicate.
I want to promote difference and celebrate diversity, in an attempt to make our SU as inclusive as it can possibly be. But most importantly, I'm here to support students, so please come to me with any issues that may arise - no matter how small they may seem. Making a difference to individuals is at the fore of my targets for the forthcoming year.
Hope to see you soon,
Tras
